WE ARE BEING SHAPED…LIKE CHRIST!

Romans 8 – “Therefore”

How many times have you been told by someone you haven’t seen since childhood, “Oh, you look just like your father…(or mother)?’ And you think, or at least I do, no, I look like me. But I have always been a bit rebellious in this line of thinking.

Here is even better news…God wants us to be more and more like His Son, Jesus, whom He sent to earth to seek, to save, to heal, to restore and to teach us how to love and live. God knows us from the inside out. He sees our hearts. He knows our names! We cannot escape His tender touch of transformation.
He created us.

Let Him do what He must! God shapes us every day, if we allow Him, to be more and more in every way…like Christ! We cannot do this on our own. His power within us, who believe, molds and shapes our lives to be more like Christ and always enough to be acceptable to God.

Read this next passage in Romans 8 with gratitude and praise for God who loves us so deeply that He wants us to grow and not stagnate in our self driven ways. Stop rebelling (preaching to me) and get on board with God, allowing Him to do His work in us to completion. Blessed are we when we trust and obey, desiring God’s best work in us!

Romans 8 bestRomans 8, The Message
29-30 God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun.

31-39 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose?

Think it through…
–Why would The Son be first in line to be restored? Because He took on the sins of the world…your sin and my sin…and paid the price for redeeming us from all sin. God cannot be where sin is so until Jesus completed the process of payment, death, going to hell and back again for us, God could not look on Him. When complete, God restored Him to the highest place once again in heaven. His Holy Spirit was left behind to restore and shape our lives in the likeness of Christ.

She has her Father’s Eyes is how I want to be known. How about you?

SO, what DO you think? Let this simmer in your thoughts this morning and all day long. In Jesus Name, and by His power working on us and in us…Amen.

And I’m singing…

I may not be every mother’s dream for her little girl,
And my face may not grace the mind of everyone in the world.
But that’s all right, as long as I can have one wish I pray:
When people look inside my life, I want to hear them say,

She’s got her father’s eyes,
Her father’s eyes;
Eyes that find the good in things,
When good is not around;
Eyes that find the source of help,
When help just can’t be found;

Eyes full of compassion,
Seeing every pain;
Knowing what you’re going through
And feeling it the same.
Just like my father’s eyes,
My father’s eyes,
My father’s eyes,
Just like my father’s eyes.
