EXACTLY AS HE SAID

Mark – The Facts.

Our grandkids can remember what we say better than we can. If we do something a certain way, and they like it, then we have to do it the exact same way again. We love being together. We try not to promise what we cannot deliver. Knowing they will remember, we choose our words wisely. I must say, that it fills my heart to know how much they love us and listen to our promises.

How much more it must warm the heart of God when we listen to His promises, remember them in a crisis and live gratefully because of His care for us? Because of our risen Lord, we have hope and a future. THAT is a promise, exactly as He said!

Mark 16, The Message
The Resurrection
16 1-3 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so they could embalm him. Very early on Sunday morning, as the sun rose, they went to the tomb. They worried out loud to each other, “Who will roll back the stone from the tomb for us?”

4-5 Then they looked up, saw that it had been rolled back—it was a huge stone—and walked right in. They saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed all in white. They were completely taken aback, astonished.

6-7 He said, “Don’t be afraid. I know you’re looking for Jesus the Nazarene, the One they nailed on the cross. He’s been raised up; he’s here no longer. You can see for yourselves that the place is empty. Now—on your way. Tell his disciples and Peter that he is going on ahead of you to Galilee. You’ll see him there, exactly as he said.”

8 They got out as fast as they could, beside themselves, their heads swimming. Stunned, they said nothing to anyone.

9-11 [After rising from the dead, Jesus appeared early on Sunday morning to Mary Magdalene, whom he had delivered from seven demons. She went to his former companions, now weeping and carrying on, and told them. When they heard her report that she had seen him alive and well, they didn’t believe her.

12-13 Later he appeared, but in a different form, to two of them out walking in the countryside. They went back and told the rest, but they weren’t believed either.

14-16 Still later, as the Eleven were eating supper, he appeared and took them to task most severely for their stubborn unbelief, refusing to believe those who had seen him raised up. Then he said, “Go into the world. Go everywhere and announce the Message of God’s good news to one and all. Whoever believes and is baptized is saved; whoever refuses to believe is damned.

Mark 16 cross risen

Jesus said He would rise in three days. The women who followed him and cared for his needs during his preaching years stood at a distance, watching and waiting for the right time to prepare the body with spices for burial. Did they not remember what He said? An angel had to remind them, He is not here, He has risen…EXACTLY as He said. Go tell!

When they ran to tell, no one believed them. The Eleven who were clustered together, grieving over a funeral dinner, did not believe. But we should not be so hard on these fellow followers, we probably would have done the same, not knowing the full story as we do now. Then Jesus walks in, scarred but fully alive, and reminds them of what He had said to them. “After I am raised up, I will go ahead of you, leading the way to Galilee.”

“I will go ahead of you.” What a promise! He still goes ahead of us. His promises are true. He delivers on His promises. He delivers us. Wow, what a Savior! Our Lord saved us. Exactly as He said.

Here are a few promises of God to read and chew on all day long…every day.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6

“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. AND if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.” 1 John 5:14-15

“I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no on will snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:28

“Daily dwell on God’s promises to you. Hide them in your heart and always remember, ‘Not one word has failed of all His good promise.'” 1 Kings 8:56

“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you, He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will ehlp you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

“I am convinced that neither death, nor life, not angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

Standing on the promises, exactly as He said.
In Jesus Name, Amen. I believe.
