LOOK WELL…

Matthew – Fulfilled

Who do you trust most in other humans? Is it those who push you around, bullying you into doing tasks? Is it those who shout orders at you until you do what they ask? When someone pushes into a corner, how do you repond? We are built with either the “flight or fight” syndrome inside our minds and being. When pushed into a corner we deny or come out fighting. Neither one of these is healthy in the end. Avoiding being pushed around and prodded to do something is not the best way to learn or do life…especially with God.

Matthew, who writes to keep us focused on the many ways the Jesus came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets, gives us the way Jesus Christ walked and talked among the people He was seeking to save. We need to “look well” and learn and apply the attitude of Christ in our lives as we point others to Him.

Matthew 12, The Message
In Charge of Everything
15-21 Jesus, knowing they were out to get him, moved on. A lot of people followed him, and he healed them all. He also cautioned them to keep it quiet, following guidelines set down by Isaiah:

Look well at my handpicked servant;
I love him so much, take such delight in him.
I’ve placed my Spirit on him;
he’ll decree justice to the nations.
But he won’t yell, won’t raise his voice;
there’ll be no commotion in the streets.
He won’t walk over anyone’s feelings,
won’t push you into a corner.
Before you know it, his justice will triumph;
the mere sound of his name will signal hope, even
among far-off unbelievers.

What do we learn?
–Know Jesus. Know His Story. Tell it by living more and more like He taught us to live. Sometimes, use quiet words of Christ at the right time, in the right Holy Spirit.

–Don’t shout at people who don’t get it…yet. Be gentle and wise. Truth needs no shouting.
–Don’t push people into a corner. God’s saving grace is not forced. God is a gentleman.
–We are free to make choices. All people are free to make choices. Extend God’s grace, even if your loved ones make bad choices. God will triumph in the end.
–Pray passionately for others salvation…Jesus did.

“Look well at my handpicked servant; I love him so much” –God

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank for the grace and mercy you extend to me and to others. Thank you for your gentleness with our messiness. Help us to see you on this journey and follow your ways. Help me to be gracious in all I am, say and do.
In Jesus Name, Amen
