JUST TO SPEAK HIS NAME…

Psalms of Honesty and Praise

I recall a very frustrating day in the life of a pastor and his family, a day before Easter, when everything seemed to be going wrong. Every detail seemed like a battle. Every simple task was made harder because of an appliance breakdown, (or by an unfocused mind on the tasks). Overthinking while performing the simplest of tasks can be dangerous. I was working hard and working ahead, at least in my mind, to prepare a dessert for Easter while multi-tasking a million other tasks.

In the middle of beating the ingredients, my mixer didn’t stop working, it would not quit beating! This was the last straw in a bad day, I took matters into my own hands, literally, and stuck my fingers in the situation to “fix it”. Bad idea. I quickly retreated, from the pain, and threw the mixer into the sink. I cried out suddenly, even to my surprise, and called out to God, “In the name of Jesus Christ, please defeat the enemy, cleanse my household of all demons and calm me down!” This was not a curse but a heartfelt cry for help. Miraculously and immediately, all became calm. I smiled through my tears at what just occurred in my foolishness, and marveled at what happens when we just speak His Name.

The Psalmist knew this well…”just to speak His Name is praise!” Read and shout your own Hallelujahs of praise to the One and Only who saves us, redeemed us and still loves and guides us! Read this in the Name of Jesus, with His Holy Spirit filling You to overflow with blessings for this moment in time.

Psalm 113, The Message
1-3 Hallelujah!
You who serve God, praise God!
Just to speak his name is praise!
Just to remember God is a blessing—
now and tomorrow and always.
From east to west, from dawn to dusk,
keep lifting all your praises to God!

4-9 God is higher than anything and anyone,
outshining everything you can see in the skies.
Who can compare with God, our God,
so majestically enthroned,
Surveying his magnificent
heavens and earth?
He picks up the poor from out of the dirt,
rescues the wretched who’ve been thrown out with the trash,
Seats them among the honored guests,
a place of honor among the brightest and best.
He gives childless couples a family,
gives them joy as the parents of children.
Hallelujah!

psalm-113

And I’m singing…

There is strength in the name of the Lord
There is power in the name of the Lord
There is hope in the name of the Lord
Blessed is He, who comes in the name of the Lord

In Jesus Name I pray, Amen. I believe!
