STEP OUT OF THE TRAFFIC!

Psalms of Honesty and Truth

Can we just pause, step out of the traffic of all we are doing and just be still before God? Can we take a break in the busyness of what we think this day will bring and just think of the majesty, the creativity, the power and glory of God, our Father, the Creator of heaven and earth? Can we ask Him what He wants for this day…and then wait and listen for His answer? Can we spend time all day long meditating on Him, what He has done, is doing and will do for you? For me? For us?

Above all the noises and voices, be quiet. Just breathe. Listen to His heart. Don’t say anything. Leave the TV off while getting ready for your day. Find the Center of our universe and cling to Him, fall to your knees if you have to and just listen. Turn off the radio in the car on the way to work. But just listen.

The news filled with what ifs and half truths sprinkled with sensationalism will be told without us today so we can take a long look at our loving God. Today we listen only to the One who loved us first, loves us still and wants the best for us. Wow. Just think about that. Take all the time you need. For all we really need is Him.

Yes, I love Psalm 46. It brings me back to what where I should be every day…centering my thoughts on my Savior, praying with passion and then simply listening for His Holy response. I’m taking a long loving look at our Father. Above all. Listen. BE then do.

Psalm 46, The Message

1-3 God is a safe place to hide,
ready to help when we need him.
We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom,
courageous in seastorm and earthquake,
Before the rush and roar of oceans,
the tremors that shift mountains.
Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

4-6 River fountains splash joy, cooling God’s city,
this sacred haunt of the Most High.
God lives here, the streets are safe,
God at your service from crack of dawn.
Godless nations rant and rave, kings and kingdoms threaten,
but Earth does anything he says.

7 Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

8-10 Attention, all! See the marvels of God!
He plants flowers and trees all over the earth,
Bans war from pole to pole,
breaks all the weapons across his knee.

“Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
above politics, above everything.”
11 Jacob-wrestling God fights for us,
God-of-Angel-Armies protects us.

psalm-46-be-still

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you for fighting for us on every level. We love you with all that is in us. We love taking time to just hear You. Help us to be still. Help us to listen. Here I am, Lord. I’m listening. In Jesus Name, Amen.
