Psalms of Honesty and Truth
We are in the middle of a remodel of our home. We cannot move ahead until a new door is placed into the wall. We hired a guy who ordered installed the wrong door. Now, the right door has to be ordered and we wait another 3 weeks until the right door arrives and can be installed. These are the grains of sand in our socks that trouble and frustrate us on our journey. It’s not the mountains that need to be moved but the small stuff that can rob us of our joy.
STOP, give God praise, I told myself yesterday. Give God praise that you have the money to buy a door in the first place. Praise God for a home to remodel and fix. Above all praise God for salvation, peace and sustained love that comes in the middle of troubles and frustrations. Praise Him for the joy of loving and knowing Him…our Father in Heaven.
So, this is the Psalm for today’s journey…Pure praise for our Father, God who made heaven and earth and is in control of all He has created. This psalm opens and ends with God’s strength and peace that He extends to His people. Sing praises! Shake the grains of sand from your socks. Be grateful for peace and the strength it give us to keep moving on. Give HIM all the glory!
Psalm 29, New Living Translation
A psalm of David.
1 Honor the Lord, you heavenly beings[a];
honor the Lord for his glory and strength.
2 Honor the Lord for the glory of his name.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
3 The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea.
The God of glory thunders.
The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is majestic.
5 The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars;
the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf;
he makes Mount Hermon[b] leap like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lord strikes
with bolts of lightning.
8 The voice of the Lord makes the barren wilderness quake;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord twists mighty oaks[c]
and strips the forests bare.
In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”
10 The Lord rules over the floodwaters.
The Lord reigns as king forever.
11 The Lord gives his people strength.
The Lord blesses them with peace.
Dear Heavenly Father, We praise you for all you have done, are doing and will do in our lives. We honor you for Who You are to us and for us. We love you with all that is in us. Thank you for the intimacy you allow us to have with You, our Father in Heaven. Continue to be our strength and our song all day long and into the night. In Jesus Name, Amen
