WAKE UP SLEEPYHEADS!

Psalms of Honesty and Truth

God has provided all we need to love Him back. He has given us planet earth to walk on and to enjoy while being good stewards of this blessing. He has saved us, by laying down His life for ours, paying the debt for our sins of selfishness, wanting our own way, being in the lead instead of following the One wants the best for us. God has protected us and helped us live through all the drama and tragedies in our lives. Many lessons are taught by the Master Teacher through those trials in our journeys on this earth. “Wake up! Look up!”, sings the Psalmist, David as he reminds us once again that there is NO ONE like our God, who was, and is, AND is to come! Who is this King-Glory? Yahweh!..ready to enter our lives in glory and power…Yes, the best is yet to come!

Psalm 24, The Message
A David Psalm

1-2 God claims Earth and everything in it,
God claims World and all who live on it.
He built it on Ocean foundations,
laid it out on River girders.

3-4 Who can climb Mount God?
Who can scale the holy north-face?
Only the clean-handed,
only the pure-hearted;
Men who won’t cheat,
women who won’t seduce.

5-6 God is at their side;
with God’s help they make it.
This, Jacob, is what happens
to God-seekers, God-questers.

7 Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

8 Who is this King-Glory?
God, armed
and battle-ready.

9 Wake up, you sleepyhead city!
Wake up, you sleepyhead people!
King-Glory is ready to enter.

10 Who is this King-Glory?
God-of-the-Angel-Armies:
he is King-Glory.

psalm-24

What do we learn?
–Wake up, smell the coffee! Awaken every sense God has given us to declare His glory! Don’t become complacent about God!

–We are to be good stewards…Anything we give to Him, He has first given to us (50:10-12; 1 Chron. 29:14).

–We are worshippers who experience His Grace in redemption! (vv. 3-6). We are not perfect but perfectly forgiven by the work on the cross by Jesus Christ, God’s Son. To “seek God’s face” means to have an audience with the King and this is now possible through the work of Christ on the cross. God’s righteousness is a gift, not a reward for good works. David compared the generation of God-seeking people to their ancestor Jacob, who saw the face of God and held on by faith until he received a blessing. Jacob certainly wasn’t a perfect man, but the Lord saved him and even is called “the God of Jacob” (Ps. 46:7, 11).

–We are victors who celebrate His Glory in conquest (vv. 7-10). Five times in this text God is called the King of Glory. Jesus is the Chief Shepherd who will one day return in glory and give each faithful servant a crown of glory.

–Warren Wiersby declares, “As children of God, we belong to three worlds: the world of creation around us, the world of the new creation within us (2 Cor. 5:17), and “the world to come” of the wonderful final creation that will be our home for eternity (Rev. 21–22).

Praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow…Bless His Holy Name!
In Jesus Name, we pray and exalt, Amen. I believe. I’m redeemed!
