SPOILER ALERT!

Peter, A Breath of Fresh Air

You’re in the middle of a great movie of suspense, unexpected plot twists, full of action with dark characters lurking around. The good turn bad and the bad look good. You don’t know who to trust. You’re almost at the end of the movie, biting your nails, when a family member comes in, turns on the light and declares, “Oh, I’ve seen this movie! That guy, right there, did it!” Spoiler alert.

Peter does the same thing for us. But we love it! He reminds us WHO wins, WHO has the last word, and WHO loves and helps us most because He never lets go! “God has great plans for us in Christ!”, Peter declares. “The suffering won’t last forever!” “He gets the last word; yes, he does.” “He will have us back on our feet for good.” These are glorious thoughts of hope, restoring the joy of our salvation! Think on these things today! And be glad!

1 Peter 5, The Message

He Gets the Last Word
8-11 Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.

12 I’m sending this brief letter to you by Silas, a most dependable brother. I have the highest regard for him.

I’ve written as urgently and accurately as I know how. This is God’s generous truth; embrace it with both arms!

What do we learn?
–EMBRACE this Truth…He wins!

Don't panic

Dear Heavenly Father, You never let go! Thank you! Thank you for Your Word of joy, hope, peace and unconditional love, always wanting the best for us. Yes, the suffering is only for a little while, then you come and set all things right. Help us to meditate on this all day long. Help us to internalize this joy deep in our soul. May your Light of hope reflect brightly on our faces today.
In Jesus Name, Amen

And we sing…
“You Never Let Go”

Even though I walk through the valley
Of the shadow of death
Your perfect love is casting out fear
And even when I’m caught in the middle
Of the storms of this life
I won’t turn back, I know You are near

And I will fear no evil
For my God is with me
And if my God is with me
Whom then shall I fear?
Whom then shall I fear?

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming
For the heart that holds on
A glorious light beyond all compare
And there will be an end to these troubles
But until that day comes
We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Oh no, You never let go
Through the calm and through the storm
Oh no, You never let go
In every high and every low
Oh no, You never let go
Lord, You never let go of me
